A common precaution given by doctors is to stop smoking for about a month before the procedure and the same amount of time during the recovery phase. Smoking increases the risk of wound infections. Another precaution is to stop using contraceptive pills for one and a half months.

Normally patients are advised not to do heavy work but as said earlier you will need to move around to prevent blood clotting.
