New Hair Loss Treatment In Clinical Trials

It has been several years since a new hair loss treatment that actually treats balding and hair thinning problems has been found.  This new discovery may actually revolution how baldness is treated by making the need for expensive and painful hair restoration surgery obsolete.  It is too early to tell for sure, but early trials in animals show promise.

The new method is called cellular replication and actually has its roots in cloning and stem cell technologies.  The basic idea is really quite simple to understand.  A few cells are taken in a biopsy of one of your hair follicles.  These cells are then used to grow new cells which eventually grow into new hair follicles.  These follicles are then implanted into the bald spot.  With a normal hair implant procedure the patient must have follicles surgical removed from another area of his head which usually leaves scarring as the scalp itself must be incised out.  The follicles are then removed from these strips of scalp and implanted into the balding area.

This new hair loss help does away with the necessity of removing scalp because the follicles are actually grown outside the body after removal of a few cells.  Once the follicles have grown to sufficient size they are then implanted into the balding area with the hope they will continue to grow for years to come.

Since the original cells were removed from the patient’s body there is no concerns about rejection problems seen when organs from another person are used.  The patient’s body recognizes these follicles as their own because they contain the same genetic structure as the biopsied cells.  The hair growth industry is very interested in the human trials taking place in Europe currently as this could be the so called Holy Grail of baldness treatments.  Look for further information to become available as the results from trials are made available this year.
