In general, the cost of different plastic surgery procedures can be summed up into one of two categories. They are either relatively affordable treatments, usually nonsurgical, that require multiple sessions that add up in overall cost or they are one-time, usually major procedures like liposuction surgery or a tummy tuck. Some procedures like liposuction and breast augmentation are more popular among young women who have not yet established themselves financially. To these women financing for plastic surgery is often the only way these procedures are accessible to them. In such a case, it is important to factor the cost of borrowing into the total cost of the procedure.

As if liposuction prices weren’t complicated enough with the many variables that go into finalizing the bill, financing adds another element into the equation. Most clinics will actually offer to carry the financing in house which means the loan will be from the clinic or their financing partner. The clinic is also a good place to start for resources on financing options since many surgeons have local companies in the area who they can recommend. Most of these companies will have a lot of experience lending to plastic surgery patients.

Recently, the economic downturn and subsequent credit crunch has forced a lot of women to put off their surgery for a future date. As credit became harder to acquire and more people were unsure about their financial situations, the number of liposuction surgeries have significantly gone down. The expectation is that with the next upswing in the economy and more people feel secure about their jobs there was be an unusually strong surge in the number of surgeries as those sitting on the sidelines makes the jump and start walking into the clinics for their appointments. It is after these people are treated that we can expect the numbers to stabilize and the industries growth to continue at a more sustainable rate.
