Hair Transplant

Maybe you wonder if you should go for a laser hair replacement or maybe for non surgical hair replacement. Hair transplant may be an effective way to solve the so wide spread condition of hair loss.  However, at the same time, we need to recognize that there are also risks involved. It pays out to have a balanced view on the procedure, so that you can make an objective assessment and decide if this is something for you or not.

A lot of people tend to have an idealized view of hair transplant, thinking of this as a quick definitive solution to their problem. It is possible to have such a successful intervention, but most often it takes up to one year for the results to actually settle.  Also, there are a lot of things that can go wrong.

This being said, usually the hair transplant clinics offer accurate and complete information to their patients. They will certainly present the benefits, but also the possible grafts failure, before you will sign with them. If you don’t receive such comprehensive information, you should become careful about that particular clinic.

Regarding the risks, what are the things that can go wrong? Well, the worst is that they can even exacerbate the effects of baldness. While this is not the most common outcome, it is something you should be aware of. Don’t close your eyes to this and think it will not happen to you. Weight carefully the pros and cons.

So where should you start your research? Get in touch with top clinics and get detailed information on the procedure. Then, read testimonials of former patients. However, there is an watch-out here, as results are highly dependent on the specific case of each individual, on the pattern of their baldness. But they will give you an idea on how the clinic approaches the procedure.

The three alternatives of hair transplant are follicular unit micrografting, follicular unit extraction and laser hair transplant. This is the most common procedure, done for years and you can return to your normal activity within a week. The second is a relatively new technique, that also costs more. Finally, laser hair transplant is as you could imagine the cutting edge alternative in the field.

Before going for surgery though, why not think twice if you would not be better off to consider some non-surgical measures? Among these are wearing a wig, taking hair loss medicines such as the well-known Rogaine, using topical treatments such as dedicated shampoos and lotions, cutting hair completely – which is of course easier to implement for men than for women.

In the end, it is up to you, to how big the problem is for you, what is the level of risk you are willing to take, what is the amount of money you are willing to spend. In all cases though, thorough research is recommended before making a choice.
