Breast Implant Removal Issues

Breast enhancement surgery is like most cosmetic procedures, it goes right almost all of the time and most women report little to no issues with their implants and are quite satisfied with the procedure in the years after the surgery.  For a small select few though, issues arise and problems surface the either force them to or convince them to undergo breast implant removal surgery.

All women are different and some issues are driven by a medical necessity and others are more of a mental issue.  They may for some reason simply decide that they do not want or need breast implants anymore or maybe they simply want to avoid any potential breast related issues down the road.  This often leads women to undergo breast implant removal surgery.

In other cases, a medical issue arises that kind of forces their hand and makes them make a decision on whether to remove the implant or in some cases, remove the offending implant but replace it with another implant.  There are many reasons that women might potentially undergo this type of surgery and have to replace or remove a breast implant.

There is a possibility that deflation or rupture might occur in the implant causing a severe deformity in the impacted breast.  In most cases, women elect to replace the affected breast implant with a new one.  Another issue that a woman might face could be a diagnosis of breast cancer, an infection, necrosis or the formation of scar tissue may drive them to undergo breast implant removal surgery.  Any of these issues listed are fairly rare to occur but they can happen and this is something you should understand before undergoing breast enhancement surgery.

When doctors inform you of these issues, they are not trying to talk a woman out of having breast augmentation surgery, but rather they simply want to make sure they have an educated patient.  Women need to understand the pros and cons.  The pros being obvious but the cons they may not be aware of, so understand that this is an issue you should address thoroughly with your doctor prior to surgery and make sure you are a very educated consumer and that your breast augmentation recovery period is exactly what you were expecting it to be.
